The Tiger's Nest
Warm up for the trek with a walk to one of the world's most picturesque monasteries, spectacularly sited on a sheer cliff with views of the Paro Valley.
Camp below Mount Jomolhari, Bhutan's second highest mountain, which reaches 7,320 metres above sea level.
Spectacular mountain scenery
Experience the eastern Himalayas, with some of the most beautiful mountain scenery.
The dzong, or fortress, at Punakha is considered the most beautiful in Bhutan and it's easy to see why: traditional architecture, ornated carved and painted woodwork, brilliant Buddhist artwork and gilded doorways. There's also the stunning location, at the confluence of two rivers. It holds a special place in the hearts of the Bhutanese as it is the site for the coronation of all of the country's highly revered kings.
The Dochu La is one of Bhutan's stunning high passes, heralded by a mass of prayer flags. There are panoramic views of the mountains from here in clear weather but it is the incredible sight of 108 chortens set on a gentle rise that dominates the scene.
Bhutan's capital is one of the smallest in the world and the only one without a single traffic light. Set in a valley fringed with mountainsand overlooked by the 51-metre high Buddha Dordenma, Thimphu is packed full of cultural attractions that define the character of Bhutan.
